چکیده

we aimed determine normal macular thickness by using cirrus hd-oct in  rasht city, iran. in this cross-sectional survey, 112 were selected with random sampling. all subjects underwent complete eye examinations. both eyes of each patient were evaluated. optional protocol was macular thickness map with macular cub 512×128 and the average thickness of the retina was determined in 9 etdrs regions. to assess the reproducibility and the degree of the system trust, in 10 healthy subjects the thickness of the retina was measured up to 5 times and then the coefficient of variation was measured for each individual. the coefficient of variation of macular thickness within 1mm of center was 0.15-1.33%. the mean ± sd of central subfield thickness (cst), macular thickness( mt), macular volume (mv) were 245.44±20.39 µm, 277.9±11.95 µm and 9.98±0.43mm 3 respectively. the mean cst (p<0.0001), mt (p₌0.038) and mv (p₌0.030)   in men were more than women significantly. also regardless of age and gender, macular thickness is increased from 1mm of center to 3mm and 6mm of etdrs-regions so that the upper 3 mm (s3) is the thickest and t6 is the thinnest. the mean mt of healthy subjects is 280.67±12.79µm in men and 276.63±11.61 µm in women whereby, in men is significantly more than women (p₌0.038).
